Permanent vs. Seasonal Christmas Lights: Which Is Right for Your Home?
The two options, in plain terms
Seasonal installs are the classic: commercial-grade C9 LED strands custom-cut to your roofline, installed in November, maintained all season, taken down in January, and stored until next year.
Permanent lighting is the modern alternative: small RGB+W bulbs mounted in a color-matched track under your eave, wired in once, and controlled from your phone year-round. Invisible by day, any color by night.
Where seasonal wins
The look. Nothing matches the warm, big-bulb glow of true C9s on a roofline — it's the classic Christmas-card look most people picture, and it's why seasonal remains our most popular install.
The cost structure. A seasonal package is a fraction of a permanent system's upfront cost, which makes it the natural way to start. Many of our permanent customers ran seasonal installs for a year or two first.
Zero commitment. If you move, remodel, or want a totally different look next year, nothing is attached to your house.
Where permanent wins
Every holiday, not just one. Halloween orange, July 4th red-white-and-blue, game-day colors, and a subtle warm-white architectural glow for ordinary evenings — one install covers the whole calendar.
No annual cycle. There's no install day, no takedown, no storage — and no annual service fees for any of it. Over enough seasons, the math starts to favor permanent for homeowners who know they'll light their house every year.
Built for the Gulf Coast. The systems we install are IP67-rated against humidity and salt air and mount to the fascia, so they ride out storms that shred temporary decorations.
How to decide
Choose seasonal if you want the classic C9 Christmas look, you're lighting your house for the first time, or you want the lowest cost of entry with everything handled for you.
Choose permanent if you decorate for multiple holidays, plan to stay in your home for years, and like the idea of controlling everything from an app.
